An injury requires healing, but without healing, we still must limp forward. So it is with mental health and addictions. The overlap between the two is extensive, which makes sense. When our psyche is damaged, we use crutches such as addictions to move forward.
Recovery is possible. I won't lie, it is work and it is a struggle, but it can be done. I have seen many journeys through addictions. Many succeed. Some falter. However, as long as people keep working, all are successful in the end.
I commend you for your willingness to work on this. I utilize a strengths based model, utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and SMART Recovery techniques.
